We are working hard to finalize the details for our Watertown studio. For now, here is what you need to know.

The Watertown studio build out is humming along and we're hopeful that we're in line to meet our target opening date. The looks and feel of the Watertown is much more industrial than the cozy, wood furniture vibe in Belmont. We promise it will be filled with the same, welcoming people though.  And we will be able to offer 15 classes per week! Things will work a little bit differently at the new studio, so please make sure to read on for details.

Indigo Fire BELMONT

Indigo Fire Belmont will be running almost exactly as it has in the past. We will be updating our COVID policy, but the teachers and practices will be very familiar to you. The kids summer camp throughout July and August, so our class offerings are limited to evenings and Saturday morning.

Summer 2021 Classes at Indigo Fire Belmont are 8 weeks long and come with tools, 45 lbs of clay, and materials.  Towels and aprons provided.

The physical layout of the studio will return to it's pre-covid setup for the summer semester.

Classes will start the week of July 12th and require no previous experience with clay.

Summer practice hours for Belmont are:

3:30-6:00 M-Th, 3:30-9:00 Friday, and 12:30-6:00 on weekends.  We will return to our pre-covid open practice hours in the fall.  Because Belmont is smaller we will continue restricting practice hours when classes are in session for this semester.

Summer 2021 Classes at Indigo Fire Watertown are 8 weeks long and come with 45 lbs of clay.

Throwing tools are not provided.  If you don't have throwing tools, we recommend starting with a cheapo set online like this one from Amazon.  If you'd rather not support Amazon, you could buy from Portland Pottery, Sheffield Pottery or Dick Blick.  The cheap basic set is fine to begin with and then you can buy nice, custom tools as you go along.  If you want to start out with a nicer set, try Dick Blick.

BYOTAP.  Bring your own towel and apron.

We are tentatively planning on starting the week of July 12th, inline with the Belmont classes.  This date is TBD though as we could run into complications.  If you preregister for Watertown classes, be prepared for the start date to potentially get delayed.

The classes are organized by experience level. Newcomers to clay should opt for a Beginner Wheel class. Those who have taken at least one class are ready for Beginner II, and more experienced potters (who have taken 3+ classes) can sign up for Intermediate Wheel.

If we need to cancel a class due to weather or staff absence, there will be a make-up class added to the end of the semester that meets on the same day and time as the original class.

The Watertown studio will be open 10am-10pm Monday-Friday, 10-9pm Saturday and 10-6pm Sunday.  Practice hours will be available whenever the studio is open.

Address is 79 R Grove Street, Watertown MA 02472.  The R stands for Rear because our studio occupies the back space of the warehouse building.  City Pump and Motor occupies the front space so look for them on the road.

I.F. Policies

Indigo Fire is a kind, inclusive space that relies on students to use the studio responsibly. That means respecting the cleanliness and safety of the studio, being oriented to studio practices, and having a good attitude. Make sure to read our policy guide here.  A couple extra important pieces:

Cancellation Policy, students must cancel one week before the first class begins in order to receive a full refund.  Cancellations after this time can only be refunded if we can fill the seat.

Indigo Fire has a very flexible class makeup policy.  If students miss a class they are permitted to join any other class happening that week.

There are many safety guidelines to follow in the studio.  Dust, glazes, oxide washes, studio equipment and certain tools all pose risks.  Students must read about these risks in our policy guide, behave responsibly and ask their teacher or a staff member if they have questions in this regard.

Facemasks will be required inside both studios.  This policy will change when appropriate, but there are no current plans to do so.

By signing up for a class at Indigo Fire you are agreeing to read, understand and abide by our policies.

Please keep in mind the location and skill level of the class you choose.

Select the correct calendar for the location you would like.  Move the calendar to display the month of July.
