Howdy everyone, Jared here. Unfortunately, we had a kiln misfire this past weekend. No human error thankfully, just some bad relays that caused the kiln to stop firing before it reached peak temp. Fortunately, 95% of what was in that kiln has been refired to proper Cone 6 and is totally indistinguisbale from a regular glaze unload. There are some sad outliers though, where the glazes never properly melted after that initial misfire. These are in a small taped off section on the glaze pickup, and shown in the photo below. We’re sorry if you were one of the negatively effected few. Stay tuned for more info regarding our recent kiln maintenance endeavors soon. Kilns are depreciating assets, and our repairs are happening in perpetuity! If there’s any questions, by all means ask away. I appreciate you all for reading and for your understanding as always.

Hi! It seems like there have been quite a few misfires recently. I’d love to know more about how often this is happening and what the maintenance plan is. Is this just a Watertown issue? Also curious if we are using witness cones at all to verify firing temp? Thanks!
Thanks again for your help!!
